Dr. Andrew Templeton
Dr. Andrew Templeton has been the Lead Pastor at First Assembly in Sweetwater, TN for the past 16 years. He has been involved in ministry for over twenty-five years. His passion is to see people reach their fullest potential through Christ and to experience a true-life change.
Andrew grew up in Orlando, Florida and was active with Calvary Assembly. He attended their Christian School from third grade to graduation. He accepted Jesus at the age of three and began to express a calling to pastoral ministry at age four. Upon graduating from high school, he attended Lee University and earned a bachelor’s in Bible and Theology with a strong emphasis in Business Administration. Following graduation, Andrew and Rachel were married (August 2000) and he began working on his Master of Divinity through Asbury Theological Seminary (2003).
In 2010, Andrew received a Doctor of Ministry in Christian Leadership. His dissertation focused on the impact and effect of disciple-making in the local church.
Andrew and Rachel have 3 wonderful children (Isaac, Felicity, and Eve). Isaac is a recent graduate of Lee University. Felicity is in her sophomore year at Evangel University. Eve is in 6th grade and part of Crave Student Ministries.
Andrew and Rachel both worked at the Assemblies of God headquarters in Springfield, MO. Andrew served in the Men’s Ministry department while Rachel worked with Chaplaincy in US Missions. Following their time in Springfield, the Templeton’s served as associate pastors in Adrian, MI.
Since coming to Sweetwater, TN in 2009, the Templeton’s have seen God move in mighty way’s and just recently completed a 10,000 square foot student center. Rachel serves the church as the children’s pastor and is licensed with the Assemblies of God.
Andrew is quite active in world missions. He has preached on five continents and works strategically with pastors and missionaries around the globe. He also enjoys leading tours to the Holy Lands and serves as the Tennessee Network Light for the Lost director. Additionally, he teaches frequently for two universities.
Andrew has been active in teaching and preaching for the last two decades. He is known for his passionate yet practical approach; he inspires listeners and teaches scripture in a way where listeners can understand and follow. Andrew works with leaders and pastors across the nation to help them grow and maintain healthy ministries.
